Bachelor of Tourism and Hotel Management programme aims at offering expertise through management level training with the purpose of building entrepreneurship skills in the tourism industry.

The curriculum comprises of theoretical facets of tourism in its multifaceted dimension as well as practical components of tourism as a core study. This is expected to address the needs of the industry, student, community and training while promoting capacity building. The target group of the program is the students who would like to develop a career in managing tours, travel, hotel and restaurant operations as well as destination management. The programme will provide graduates with a wide range of employment opportunities in Airlines, Tour firms, Wildlife Protected areas, Nature parks, Hotels and restaurants, Community based tourism entreprises, Conservation education centres, Visitor centres, Cultural heritage centres, Museums, Ministry of Tourism, Tourism related Parastatals, and service organisations such as Banks, Insurance companies among others.

Admission Requirements

  • The qualification requirements for the programme is a mean grade of at least C+ at KCSE level or an equivalent qualification.
  • The applicant must also have passed with at least grade C (plain) in Business related course, and English or Kiswahili. The applicant may be admitted if he/she has bridged in the above relevant subjects.
  • Holders of Diploma in Tourism and Hotel Management or relevant disciplines from institutions recognised by Chuka University Senate may be admitted.
  • Applicants who have attained a minimum of a credit in diploma may qualify for credit transfer.
